A major sale of clothing and other items belonging to Joan Collins is to take place at Julien's Auctions.

Joan Collins has been in show business for over half a century

The collection will be offered in Los Angeles on December 16.

Collins began her career as an actor in the early 1950s, appearing in a huge number of films. In 1981 she landed the role of Alexis Carrington in popular TV show Dynasty, considered by many her defining performance.

The sale will include an array of lots, including couture dresses, pieces of decorative art and a variety of memorabilia from her storied career.

Joan's sister, the author Jackie Collins, died on Saturday.
