Remarkable Dingman car collection set for New Hampshire auction

A forthcoming auction in Hampton, New Hampshire will offer one of the world's finest collections of classic cars and vintage automotive signs.

The Dingman Collection was a lifetime "labour of Love" for the former Ford Motor Company director Michael Dingman, and collectors will have the opportunity to bid on close to 50 cars along with over 1,400 signs all offered 'without reserve'.

"We are honoured to have been entrusted with the sale of Michael Dingman's esteemed collection," said auction house Director Mike Fairbairn.

"The collection is wonderfully representative of Ford's history, spanning many years of automotive production, complemented by stunning signage that illuminated dealerships, advertised automotive products and enticed you to stop at one gas station over another."

"It reflects Mr. Dingman's eye for exceptional quality and incredible drive for perfection, with each lot presented in immaculate condition, representing the very finest of its category."

Major highlights from the sale will include the stunning 1936 Ford Model 48 Cabriolet, featuring coachwork by Gläser and fresh from victory at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Sportsman Convertible and a highly limited 1986 AC Cobra built in a small series by Roush Racing for top Ford Motor Company executives.

"Michael Dingman is one of the most dedicated and passionate collectors I've ever known," said Fairbairn. "In addition, his incredibly high standards have resulted in the finest Ford restorations ever seen!"

In addition, the auction will offer two custom-built Porches - a 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster and a 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet - along with first ever 2005 Ford GT off the production line, presented to Dingman as a reward for his 21 years with the company.

The collection of vintage automotive signs spans the 1930s to the 1950s, and covers a wide range of car manufacturers, dealerships and petroliana. The signs were sourced from across the United States, with every one professionally restored to museum-quality.

The sale will take place on June 9 - 10, and looks certain to attract collectors, automotive historians and canny investors with an eye for a classic.
