A signed photograph of British neurologist and athlete Roger Bannister (1929 - 2018), the first person in history to break the 'four-minute mile'.
This glossy black & white photograph measures 10" by 8", and is signed by Bannister in the lower right corner in black marker pen.
The photograph is mounted on a larger album page measuring 10" by 10.5" (20.5 by 26cm), along with the cut signatures of Bannister's fellow athletes Chris Chataway (Commonwealth gold medallist) and Chris Brasher (Olympic gold medallist and founder of the London Marathon)

On 6 May 1954 Bannister ran the first sub-four-minute mile during an athletics meet at Iffley Road Stadium in Oxford, recording a world-record time of 3 minutes and fifty nine seconds.
He was aided by Brasher who paced him for the first two laps, and Chataway who paced the third.
