Unique 1920s royal history
Unique funeral order of service for Queen Victoria's granddaughter Princess Margaret, handwritten by her aunt, Princess Beatrice.
Born Princess Margaret of Connaught in Surrey in 1882 she died Princess Margaret of Sweden in 1920, aged just 38.
"The ray of sunshine at Stockholm Palace has gone out" said the Swedish Prime Minister, Hjalmar Branting.
This extraordinary set of documents is a hand-written funeral order for Margaret compiled by her aunt, Princess Beatrice.
Princess Beatrice was Queen Victoria's youngest child.
These five pages detail the funeral arrangements for Margaret, who died suddenly, probably from sepsis.
Her detailed instructions, including the use of her wedding dress as a shroud, were reported in The Times contemporaneously.
The 5 pages have been punched together to upper right margin and affixed onto a board with handwritten annotations in a different hand. There are some folding marks and tape repairs on the last page. The pages are each 29.5 x 23 cm.
