Description
South Africa Transvaal Wolmaransstad 1900 (23 MAY) cover, self-addressed by Thos. S. Leask, with Transvaal 1895 1d red 'Penny Postage' and 1896-97 ½d and 1d, tied by three fine to very fine strikes of 'WOLMARANSSTAD/Z.A.R.' circular date stamps (another strike at left), on the date of the last post out of the town before the British Occupation.
A scarce and interesting piece of Boer War postal history.
These three values were to be issued with provisional 'Cancelled V.R.I.' handstamps a month later.
