After their successful sale of fine and rare whiskies in Edinburgh a week ago, Bonhams followed up with a chaser in the form of a further sale in New York on Tuesday (22 June).
Of the 554 lots sold, there were a couple of clear stand-out lots:
Firstly, a 750ml bottle (number 139) of Gold Bowmore. Gold Bowmore was the third part of a trilogy from the great distillers, with 701 bottles released just last year following the Black and White Bowmores.
On its release, Eddie McAffer, Distillery Manager at Bowmore commented:
"I am so proud to see this last and very special part of the trilogy released. At Bowmore we put everything we have into every single bottle,"
"But this Gold Bowmore is something quite unique, embodying everything that is special about the whisky and from a year when things at the Bowmore distillery really went into a new era."
The bottle sold for $5,653.

It was beaten into second place only by a well-known classic, The Macallan 50 year old. Jim Murray of the Whisky Bible described tasting it as a 'touching experience' and elaborated on the scent of the whisky thus:
"Time-defying intensity and clarity; Demerara (rum and sugar!) sweetened coffee, a tantalising glimpse at something smoky and sensationally rich grape and old fruit cake."
The bottle, number 328 of 500 in its original wooden case, sold for $9,520, including a letter from Chairman Allan Shiach.
