Sotheby's will offer the exceptional wine collection of tech entrepreneur James H Clark as the highlight of its October 4 auction of Finest and Rarest Wines in Hong Kong.
The sale will feature one of the most impressive groups of magnums produced by the legendary Henri Jayer, with 67 bottles spanning the 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages. It will be followed by a single-owner sale from Clark's collection on November 15 in New York.
"In addition to being a leading technology entrepreneur and philanthropist, James Clark also put together an exceptional wine collection," commented Sotheby's wine CEO and president, Jamie Ritchie.
"His cellar combines truly impressive scale with incredible quality: the best wines from the greatest producers in outstanding vintages."
James H Clark founded Netscape in 1994, and the company quickly became famous as the dominant web browser of the 1990s.
Also starring from his collection is the strongest selection of Italian and Rhone wines that Sotheby's has ever offered, including Gaja, Giacomo Conterno, Guigal and Chave.
