Christie's has completed (on June 9) an exciting sale of fine and rare wines in London including Treasures from the Cellar of Sir David Frost which realised a total of £1,084,372/$1,780,539 and was 91% sold by lot and 96% by value.
The top lot was 12 bottles of Romanee Conti 1988, which sold for £86,250/$141,622 to an Asian private collector, whilst the second and third lots went to European and American traders respectively.
Chris Munro, Director, London Wine Department commented:
"A tremendous finish to the first half of 2011 in London as prices continue to show no signs of weakening. International bidders from around the globe competed for the very best from the world of fine wine.
"We were particularly pleased with the fabulous selection of wines from the cellar of Sir David Frost which more than doubled their pre-sale estimate.
"Other highlights from the sale included a full case of Romanee Conti 1988, which sold for £86,250, 12 bottles of Petrus 1982 which sold for £40,250 and an incredibly rare case of magnums of Richebourg 1952 from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti which achieved £21,850.
"We look forward to our next sale at King Street on the 8th September Fine & Rare Wines including a Superb Private Collection and Rare Rioja."
