Bonfire night sees the start of an explosive weekend of wine across the globe

Wine lovers take note... this weekend is one which you do well to look into expanding your collection.

Acker Asia's Hong Kong Auction is already well underway with an auction featuring their first 'Yellow' catalogue, which from now on will represent a sale whose value meets or exceeds $10m.

The second day of the sale includes some incredible Bordeaux lots, featuring Cheval Blanc, Le Pin, Petrus and Yquem. But above all, this collection also brandishes one of the most important collections of Romanée Conti ever to be auctioned, with over 130 lots of DRC on offer.

There are also just two days remaining before Edward Roberts International's rare and fine wine sale in Chicago. Though smaller in number of lots, the sale offers some real classics, well-worthy of investment including the 1959 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and the 1982 Chateaux Cos D'Estournel.

The real star of the show, however, is likely to be an exceedingly rare magnum of 1961 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion.

Obviously very few people are going to hightail it from Hong Kong to California to chase the sales, but fortunately both auction houses are offering well-developed systems for online bidding, so if you're hoping to be the next Park B Smith or Lloyd Flatt, now's the time to make your move.
