Benromach Classic 1949 whisky is top tipple at Bonhams

Bonhams will auction a celebrated bottle of Benromach Classic 1949 scotch in its Edinburgh Whisky auction on October 2.

The 55-year-old bottle will sell with a £3,500-4,000 ($5,600-6,400) estimate. It is number 17 of just 83 bottles ever produced, and comes in a copper presentation case.

The sale will also offer a bottle of the Ardbeg 1965, which is presented in a glass case and is one of just 261 bottles. It will sell with a £3,000-3,500 ($4,800-5,600) estimate.

On October 13, Bonhams will sell a bottle of Aberlour-Glenlivet scotch, given by John F Kennedy to his old roommate, for an estimated $3,000.
