It beat an estimate of $30,000 by 96% in the December 4-5 sale of the second part of the Don Stott wine collection.

Duncan Sterling, senior international wine specialist at Sotheby's, comments: "Clients chased the rarest Burgundy, Rhone, and Italian wines, all collected by Don who had an eye for purchasing the best wines from the greatest producers.

"Again, we would like to thank Don for the opportunity for Sotheby's Wine to sell his unique cellar, with Parts I and II becoming our second largest sale series in New York with a total of $13,582,985. This brings our New York sales total to $26 million for the year, the third highest total that we have achieved."
