In terms of watches the biggest sale of all time was held at Christie's in Geneva in November and achieved total sales of $43.9m.

Top watches and jewellery sale of 2013

Pink Star diamond Sotheby's
The Pink Dream is the most valuable diamond ever auctioned

  • The 59.6 carat Pink Dream diamond made $83.1m in November, smashing the previous world record figure of $46.2m by 79.8%. David Bennet, chairman of jewellery at Sotheby's, commented after the sale: "It is difficult to exaggerate the rarity of vivid pink diamonds weighing only five carats, so this 59.60 carat stone is simply off any scale, and passes, I believe, into the ranks of the earth's greatest natural treasures."
