Just 25 examples of each watch were created

The tribal design dials are based on masks from Mexico, Gabon, Japan and Papua New Guinea. In 18k yellow gold, pink gold, white gold and platinum, they sold as a group for $603,750.

The watches were first seen in 2007 at the Salon International de la Haute Horological in Geneva, where they soon became the talk of the show. Each is inscribed with a poem in French which relates to the individual mask.

Just four variations were initially released, with a further eight following, bringing the total number to 12. There are 25 examples of each watch, with a total of 300 available worldwide.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb Longines Olympic series watch for sale.
