Donald Trump diamond ring achieves $300,000

A diamond engagement ring Donald Trump presented to his second wife, the TV star and actor Mara Maples, in 1993 auctioned in New York on June 29.

The Harry Winston-designed 7.4 carat ring realised $300,000 at Joseph Dumouchelle in Birmingham, Michigan.

Maples later sold it for $110,000 in 1999 following the couple's divorce - that's growth of 6% per annum.

If the controversial Republican nominee becomes president, it could be worth substantially more.
