A Rolex watch George Lazenby wore onscreen in James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service is selling at Artcurial in Paris.

The lot bears the reference number 6238, the only Rolex from that series to star in a Bond movie.

The watch is the only ref. 6238 with a red second hand

The production company ordered it especially for the film.

It features a red second hand and is the only ref. 6238 with this feature.

There is no estimate available, but it's likely to sell for somewhere in excess of $200,000.  

Last year, the Rolex Submariner Sir Roger Moore wore in Live and Let Die (1973) realised $372,467 at Phillips.

However, screen-used Submariners are much more common and appear in the vast majority of the earlier films.  

Anne-Laure Guerin, a spokesperson for the auction house, told GQ magazine: "While Submariners are associated with James Bond characters and famous actors such as Sean Connery and Moore, our present example is the only chronograph ref. 6238 used in a James Bond movie.

"This watch symbolizes perfectly the words of Ian Fleming when he said, 'A gentleman's choice of timepiece says as much about him as does his Savile Row suit.' "
