Diamond, emerald and gold ring makes $4.6m at Sotheby's

A platinum, 18k gold, emerald and diamond ring achieved $4.6m at Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels sale in New York on December 11.

The ring features a huge 61.3 carat square-cut central emerald with the mounting studded with pear-cut diamonds weighing around 17 carats.

It outperformed an estimate of $1.5m by 209.9%.

A 24.4 carat diamond and platinum ring was another highlight, realising $3.3m against a valuation of $2.5m - an increase of 32%.
