Bonhams is to sell a Montegrappa 18k gold and white diamond Dragon pen with a valuation of $30,000-40,000.

Montegrappa created the Dragon pen as a tribute to Bruce Lee

The lot is one of two artist's proofs crafted alongside 10 other special editions of this classic design in 2005.

It was originally created in tribute to Bruce Lee, whose silhouette appears in fighting pose on the nib.

While $40,000 may seem rather a lot for a pen, it pales in comparison with the $8m paid for the jewel encrusted Tibaldi Fulgor Nocturnus in Shanghai in 2010.
