A section of the Eiffel Tower's original spiral staircase realised $553,000 at Artcurial in Paris earlier this week.
It smashed its estimate of $53,978 by 947%.
The lot dates back 1890, when the world famous landmark was first erected. The staircase was removed in 1983, to make way for the elevators that are in use today.
There are 14 steps, which originally connected the second floor to the third.
It last sold for $270,587 in 2013. That's growth of 26.9% per annum over the past three years.
