A complete set of 1951 Bowman Jets, Rockets, and Spacemen trading cards is selling at RR Auction.
The cards were issued with packs of Bowman chewing gum as sci-fi mania gripped America in the 1950s.
They tell the story of the 6X52 rocket crew and their adventures across the universe.
The reverse of each card relates the latest instalment of the saga.
This collection is comfortably the best in the world, achieving a grade average of PSA 8.1 - meaning nearly all of the cards are in mint or near mint condition.
Of these an impressive 18 cards are "Pop 1s", meaning they are the highest graded versions known.
It also includes 20 of the original artboard paintings.
Businessman Ronnie Paloger built the collection from a set of five he had when he was a child.
He explained in an interview with PSA: "I was only two years old when these cards first came out, so I certainly didn't collect them when they were available.
"But I got them in some sort of flipping trade in New York back in the 1950s.
"Every time I looked at those cards, they always stuck out because they were science fiction and they were different than the Davy Crockett cards or Zorro cards that were taken from TV.
"These cards were cool. They were different, they had great artwork and they were interesting to look at."
The collection is expected to sell for in excess of $100,000 in the September 25-ending auction.
The sale will also feature this terrifying NASA test robot.
