Alex Ferguson's first-ever team sheet as manager of Manchester United will feature in an upcoming UK auction.
|
The sheet is expected to sell for up to £2,000 ($2,578), as fans clamour for memorabilia from one of football's most respected and longest serving managers in the wake of his retirement.
Dating to 1986 and signed by Sir Alex at the bottom, the sheet shows Manchester United pitted against Oxford United in a match that ended with a 2-0 defeat for the Red Devils.
And it's no wonder; the line-up detailed in the sheet is far from the star-studded squad that Ferguson has assembled today, with Irishmen Paul McGrath and Frank Stapleton the best-known players.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb selection of football memorabilia for sale, including signed shirts from Manchester United greats David Beckham and Paul Scholes, as well as signed items from the 1966 England World Cup squad.
