Two paintings of champion Newmarket racehorses by John Frederick Herring Sr will sell among 50 similar examples at Christie's Sporting & Wildlife Art action on June 5 in London.

The two 19th century paintings, one of The Duke of Grafton's Oxygen and the other showing Colonel J Peel's Lochinvar, are valued at £30,000-50,000 ($45,598-75,997).
They were once part of an important collection of such paintings that was owned by the late Lord Matthews, former CEO of the Ritz hotel in London.
John Frederick Herring Sr was a successful and prolific equine painter, who counted Queen Victoria among his patrons.
