An Apollo 17 flown service command module checklist is to highlight an online sale at RR Auction that closes on February 11.
Bidding on the lot stands at $9,746.
The manual was handled by all members of the crew and features annotations by either Harrison Schmitt or Ron Evans.
Fellow crewmate Gene Cernan has inscribed on the cover: "Flown on Apollo XVII, Gene Cernan."
He writes in a letter of provenance: "This is to certify that the accompanying Apollo 17 CSM...Updates checklist...was flown into lunar orbit in December 1972 aboard the command module 'America'...
"This Apollo checklist has remained a treasured part of my personal space collection for thirty three years, ever since NASA presented it back to me in 1973, after my return from the Moon."
The book includes a checklist of co-ordinates and calculations that would allow Apollo 17 to return to Earth in the event of losing communications.
Apollo 17 was the last manned trip to the Moon, making artefacts from the mission highly collectible.
RR comments: "Single flown checklist pages are highly sought-after themselves, rendering an entirely complete astronaut certified checklist an extremely desirable rarity—especially from the Commander of the final Apollo mission.
"This is one of the last complete checklists of its kind in private hands."
