1861 5c US
The 1861 5c yellow-brown was issued in May 1861

The American Civil War began on April 1, 1861. All stamps were invalidated shortly afterwards to stop the confederates sending mail, and a new series introduced in August of 1861.

The 5c brown yellow was introduced in a run of just over 500,000 in May, 1861 and was only in use for a very short period before being invalidated.

The sale will take place on April 19-20, with the specimen valued at $20,000-30,000.
