House of Commons film set up for auction again at Cuttlestones

A large replica film set of the UK's House of Commons will auction at Cuttlestones on June 21 in Wolverhampton, after it failed to sell in an eBay auction in March.

House Commons film set auction
The House of Commons set played host to Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher, while Anthony Hopkins, Rachel Weisz and Jude Law all inhabited the prison for the 2011 film 360

The original auction saw the set, which was used in the Meryl Streep film Iron Lady, receive a final bid of 123,400 ($193,362), yet the buyer did not finalise the payment.

It will now appear at Cuttlestones, accompanied by sets of a prison and a courtroom. All three were originally sold by Wimbledon Studios, who were making room for further additions.

The sale follows the news that MPs will allow Hollywood studios to hire the actual House of Commons for 10,000 a day, providing much needed money to the cash-strapped government.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has authentic pieces of political memorabilia for sale, including an early signed photograph of Margaret Thatcher.
