Han Solo's DL-44 blaster makes $200,000 in major movie memorabilia auction

Han Solo's DL-44 blaster used onscreen in the Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983) has sold for $200,000 at Profiles in History.

The lot headlined the December 21 Hollywood Auction in Los Angeles.

It features heavily throughout both films and is visible in the majority of scenes featuring Solo, although a live-fire version was used for close up shots.

Based on the German Mauser C96 and featuring the flash suppressor and scope, it was cast from the original prop used in A New Hope - which is believed to have been lost.

It is heavily worn in places due to the stresses of filming, but is a unique piece of film history and the only known example to have been publicly sold.

We have these fragments of bone from the set of A New Hope for sale.

A set of costumes from the much-loved musical The Sound of Music realised $150,000.

The 14 outfits comprised a number of high profile examples, including the uniform worn by Captain Georg Von Trapp in Edelweiss and So Long, Farewell - as well as five of the seven costumes worn by the Von Trapp children for the same musical numbers.

Another collection of costumes from The Sound of Music realised $1.3m at Profiles in History in July of this year. It achieved a higher figure as it included examples worn by Maria, including the dress she wore for the iconic Do-Re-Mi.

We have Julie Andrews' signature for sale.
