A 1947 Academy Award presented to Ernest Bachrach (1899-1973), still photographer for Citizen Kane and King Kong among others, is the top lot at RR Auction - with bidding currently standing at $19,236.

The still photography medal was presented to Bachrach by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in recognition of his work on The Farmer's Daughter and Crossfire, and is one of just three known to exist; the other two were presented to Merritt Sibbald and Scotty Welbourne in 1941 and 1942, respectively.
As a still photographer, Bachrach was responsible for promotional images and continuity, and is credited with producing photographs for some of the most iconic marketing campaigns in Hollywood history.
He also photographed some of the biggest stars of the era, including Orson Welles, Ingrid Bergman and Marilyn Monroe.
An autographed photograph of Marilyn Monroe is currently at $15,307.

The image dates to around 1953 and shows the star reclining on a bed. It is dedicated to Jack Cole, her choreographer, and features the inscription: "Jack—you certainly can—and I'm not mad! Marilyn."
Cole worked with Monroe on the set of five films, including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and also coached other famous actresses - including Greta Garbo and Rita Hayworth.
