Spink’s March 7 sale of the Arthur Gray collection of Australian pre-decimal stamp booklets will include a one of a kind 1904 £1 black on red.

Australia stamp booklets

This booklet is the only known example of its kind

The piece is inscribed at the top “P.O. 03/3505 Specimen booklet from Secy. P.M.G. Melbourne".

There are no stamps inside this booklet.

Instead, buyers are paying for the booklet itself. This is among the most coveted in the hobby, with no other specimen known.

It’s estimated at a phenomenal £10,000-12,000 ($13,850-16,620).
