The Enzo Pertoldi collection of toy robots has been consigned to Morphy Auctions' September 6-7 auction, exciting the collecting community.

The collection was formed over a 35 year period, and has "captured the curiosity of robot fans for decades, even though few collectors ever had the chance to view it in Enzo's home in Italy," according to Dan Morphy, CEO of Morphy Auctions.
Included in the sale will be boxed examples of the Domed Easelback, a 1950s robot made in Japan ($2,500-5,000); a Pinocchio Spaziale robot ($6,000-9,000); a rare piston-action Robbie variation ($500-700); the rare, blue version of the Smoking Robot ($2,000-3,000), and Radar Robot aka Topolino ($6,000-9,000).
The collection also incorporates space toys, with boxed examples including Gold Star, a Space Mobile and Pilot, and a Robbie Construction Roller Vehicle, among others.
"We think curiosity about its contents will attract potential bidders from all over the world. It contains many examples with provenance from the Davidson, Griffith, Lesser and Paul Lips collections. Everyone knows Enzo's collection is one of the all-time greats," added Morphy.
Also featuring in the sale is the Part II Ray and Theresa Jones collection of antique occupational shaving mugs, Part I of which was sold by the auction house earlier in the year.
Highlighting from the selection of 130 mugs on offer will be an example depicting a lighthouse ($1,000-1,500), as well as an example sporting a photographic image of an electric trolley car, which is valued at ($1,500-2,000).
