An Army Gold Medal presented to Lieutenant General Sir George Prevost sold for £60,000 ($91,467) at Spink London on November 19.

Prevost is often referred to as "the defender of Canada" for his actions as governor of British North America during the war of 1812, as he successfully kept the Americans at bay with a relatively small force.
He was awarded this medal for his capture of the French-controlled island of Martinique in the Caribbean in 1809.
