A rare US MS63-graded 1792 half disme will lead Heritage Auctions' Platinum Night sale in Dallas on April 27-May 1.
It's offered with an opening bid of $12,925.

The issue was minted prior to the establishment of the US Mint, in the shop of craftsman John Harper in July 1792. It's often described as the first official US coin.
The exact number produced is unknown, but it could be as high as 3,500.
In 2006 an MS67-graded specimen sold for a record $1.3m.
