Among the specimens taken down was an 1866-S Coronet, No Motto double eagle - which is valued in excess of $1m alone.
The hoard, estimated at around $10m, was discovered in February this year in the hills surrounding Sacramento.
While the origin of the coins remains a mystery, some have claimed that they may have been stolen from the San Francisco Mint at the turn of the century.
