Heritage is holding a low key sale of rare coins with online bidding ending over the weekend.
Whilst the lots are not as rich and varied as, for example, the upcoming Paulistana collection of Brazilian rarities, there are some interesting pieces.
Perhaps chief amongst these is a 1928 Hawaiian 50c piece, which displays the head of Captain James Cook, credited with discovering Hawaii, on the obverse.
Fewer than 10,000 of the coins were ever minted, and at a grading of MS66 it may be expected to impress bidders looking to add high-quality pieces to their collections, or for an investment.
The piece has a reserve set at $5,500, and based on the prices of comparable pieces it should easily exceed this over the weekend. Numismatists may also be interested to take a look at this range of rare coins which are currently for sale.
