Michael Schumacher racing suit expected to make $25,000+

A racing suit worn by Michael Schumacher during the 2006 British Grand Prix is up for auction at Nate D Sanders with an opening bid of $25,000.

That year he attempted to defend his world champion title, but ultimately lost out to Spanish driver Fernando Alonso.

Memorabilia pertaining to Schumacher - currently fighting for his life following a skiing accident - regularly sells well, due to his place in the annals of F1 history.

In 2012, an F1-2000 raced by Schumacher in the 2000 Austrian Grand Prix made $1m in RM Auctions' Monaco sale, while this January his 1998 Ferrari F300 sold for $1.7m at Barrett-Jackson in Arizona.

We have this signed photograph of Sebastian Vettel available.

The auction also includes an Oscar presented to art director Joseph C Wright.
