One of just six Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Roadsters ever built joins the exciting line-up at this year's Monterey auctions (August 15-17), as part of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Sold by Mecum Auctions, the roadster has not been given an estimate, but is likely to cross the $1m mark after a coupe model sold for $1.1m in 2012.
There were 26 CLK GTR's built in total, yet just six were made as roadsters. This is the only example in the United States, boasting 71 delivery miles and having gone through the federalisation process to be road worthy in the US.
The original Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR was manufactured to compete in the FIA GT Championship series in 1997, with the road cars developed to meet FIA standards.
Mercedes have been selling well at auction recently; Bonhams sold Juan Manuel Fangio's W196 for a classic car record £19.6m ($29.6m) at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.
