McLaren F1 world record to exceed $12m at Pebble Beach?

A 1995 McLaren F1 could make $12m-14m at Gooding & Company's Pebble Beach auction in California on August 16-17.

There are only 106 F1s extant, all of which were produced between 1992 and 1996.

McLaren F1
The McLaren F1 offered is the only example finished in Marlboro white

It was the world's fastest road car at the time of its release, with a top speed of 231mph.

The record for the model was set at Gooding & Company's last Pebble Beach sale in 2013, when one example sold for $8.4m - a figure that looks set to almost double this year.

The sale will include an Aston Martin DB3S and Steve McQueen's Porsche 917K.
