An icon of motoring history will feature at the upcoming Auctions America Fort Lauderdale Collector Car Auction - in the seductive shape of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.
|
Although one of the most recognisable classic cars ever created, just 1,400 examples of the Gullwing were built, making models in top condition highly desirable for collectors.
"The Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing is without question, one of the hottest collectibles on the market, and certainly one of the most sought after 50s European sports cars of all time," said Auctions America president Donnie Gould.
This particular model features a rare colour combination DB320 Blue with a factory red leather interior, and has been fully restored to concourse condition.
Although no estimate is offered, here at Paul Fraser Collectibles we predict the car could easily break the $1m barrier due to its rare colour and superb condition - with no shortage of collectors flocking to acquire it on March 22-24.
Another Gullwing is coming to auction at RM Auctions' Amelia Island sale on March 3.
