First 2015 Ford Mustang makes $300,000 for charity

The first 2015 Ford Mustang to roll off the production line sold for $300,000 at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale on January 18. There's just one snag: it hasn't been built yet.

The new owners of the vehicle, which features a 5.0 litre V8, will be able to choose their own colour scheme and interior when Ford makes the car later in the year.

The proceeds of the sale were donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Last year the first 2014 Corvette Stingray was auctioned to Nascar owner Richard Hendrick for $1.1m at Barrett-Jackson's 2013 Scottsdale sale.
