DeTomaso Pantera classic car - 'original and unrestored' - sells in Florida

We had a quick look to see what's currently available on the rare classic cars markets, and found this: the result of Ford's search to find a successor to its iconic GT40, the 1972 DeTomaso Pantera.

This classic automobile first burst onto the scene in 1970 with a mixture of American V-8 power and Italian good-looks. The 351 CI, 5-Speed Pantera was mid-engined and boasted fine handling.

This particular example, auctioning in Kissimmee, Florida, is an early-production "pre-L" model and has been driven just 18,916 miles.

According to the auctioneer, the car is in "exceptionally original condition" with Grabber Blue paint, a black interior, a 351 CI HO Cleveland V-8 engine, and a 5-speed ZF gearbox. All are entirely original to the car.

"This rare original Pantera is also equipped with power brakes and power windows and comes with the original space-saver spare and toolkit," say the lot notes.

The car is entirely unrestored and is virtually a one-owner car. Original owner Larry Seyfarth parted ways with it in September 2011.

This historic 1972 DeTomaso Pantera will sell with its full documentation, the original bill of sale and car invoice.
