The stunning Duesenberg Model JN Convertible Coupe that once belonged to Gone with the Wind star Clark Gable will serve as top lot in an August 19 auction at Pebble Beach.

Gable's car is one of 10 JNs ever built and stands as one of just four examples to have been fitted with a convertible coupe body by Rollston. It has been described as "arguably the most iconic Duesenberg of all time" by the auction house and has won the best of show award at both Meadow Brook and Amelia Island.
The magnificent vehicle was also featured in the 1938 movie Merrily We Live, providing a fantastic memento from Hollywood's golden age for top-end collectors. It also boasts a great romantic connection between Clark Gable and his third wife, actress Carole Lombard. The auction house states that together they had "enjoyed many adventures in this famous Duesenberg, including a long drive up the west coast to Vancouver, British Columbia."
The auction won't be the first time that the car has appeared at Pebble Beach; it was the Special Award Winner at the 2007 Concours d'Elegance. Estimates are only available upon request, but the auction house has revealed to Edmunds Inside Line that it expects the vehicle to bring in excess of $9m.
