John Updike archive valued at up to $30,000

A major archive of author John Updike's belongings will cross the block at RR Auction.

The collection is valued at $20,000-30,000 ahead of the February 18 close date.

It includes a wealth of documents, letters and photographs alongside more unusual items such as cheques and golf balls.

Updike (1932-2009) is best known for his Rabbit series, which follows his character Henry "Rabbit" Angstrom over the course of his life.

Godfather author Mario Puzo's collection will be offered in the same sale.
