Two John Frederick Herring Sr horse paintings saw some of the highest bids in Christie's auction of Sporting and Wildlife Art, held on June 5 in London.

The two paintings were sold as a single lot, realising a total of $32,500 ($49,880). They depict The Duke of Grafton's Oxygen, winner of the Oaks, and Colonel J Peel's Lochinvar.
The top lot of the sale was a series of four fox hunting themed oils from Henry Thomas Alken, which beat the £25,000 top estimate by 50% to sell for £37,500 ($57,554).
Paul Fraser Collectibles has recently added a selection of horse racing memorabilia to our stock, including items for some of the greatest modern champions, such as Kauto Star racing silks signed by Ruby Walsh and Red Rum's horseshoe from the 1977 Grand National.
