A coffee table by Japanese-American carpenter George Nakashima (1905-1990) headlined a 20th century design auction at Skinner on June 28.
The black walnut and rosewood piece achieved $29,520 against an estimate of $22,000 - an increase of 34.1%.

Nakashima's work is highly desirable and regularly exceeds estimates when it comes to auction.
In December last year a Minguren II coffee table $197,000 against a valuation of $150,000 (up 31.3%).
