1854 (June - Sept) Perkins Bacon original die proofs for the 1855 'VAN DIEMENS LAND' 1d (39x45mm), 2d (29x34mm) and 4d (30x35mm) values.

In black on India paper, affixed to card, the 1d particularly large (with the edge of the India paper visible at right).

A beautiful set of the highest rarity.

The 4d is Ex Sebastian Earl Collection (Christie's Geneva 25/4/80, lot 2084, realised CHF 5500).
