South Africa 1933-48 1d grey and carmine "SUID-AFRIKA" hyphenated, imperforate block of 4, SG56a.

A very fine unmounted mint block of four with full original gum.

The watermark inverted as usual.

A lovely stamp depicting Dromedaris (Jan van Riebeeck's ship), the arrival of which in the Cape on 6th April 1652 marked the beginning of permanent European settlement in the region.
