Sierra Leone 1963 Independence 11s on £1 black and orange, type 73 surcharge, SG269.

A fine unmounted mint example with full original gum. Traces of gum toning as nearly always seen for this issue and still very fine quality for this key rarity.

Only 540 were originally issued in celebration of the second year of independence, most of which were used.

Provenance: Signed "AL" (= well respected philatelist and stamp dealer, Allan Leverton) in pencil on reverse.
