Uganda 1895 (Nov) typewritten 20(c) violet narrow letters, narrow stamp, SG38.
A fine example with strong colour and large part borders except at left, tied by blue crayon cross to neat cover (green envelope) from Rev Martin Hall to Archdeacon Walker at Namirembe. Typical cover folds (almost certainly indicating carriage of mail by cleft stick) but choice quality for 'missionary' cover.
Very rare, being one of only ten covers recorded with the November 1895 issue, from a total population of just 21 'typewritten' covers.
Excellent provence, ex Trapnell, from the Walker family collection which preserved the Archdeacon's papers.
