It was collected by Charles' barber, George Crisp of Geo F. Trumper Barbers and Perfumers in Mayfair, London. Crisp had previously been barber to George VI, Queen Elizabeth II's father, and regularly attended Buckingham Palace in the 1960s to keep Charles' teenage locks in check.

The hair is presented on a display card inside a 7 x 7 inch frame, ready to hang or stand.
