- An excellent 7.3 x 11.5 inch signed photograph of Pope John Paul II
Karol Józef Wojtyła was elected pope in 1978, taking the name John Paul II. He’s regarded as the most popular modern leader of the Catholic Church; celebrated for his conservativism, his work in ending communism and for building bridges with other faith leaders. He was made a saint in 2014.
This is a large and rare signed photograph of Pope John Paul II. He’s photographed along with fellow modern saint Mother Teresa.
To the bottom left is the official Vatican City seal and the words Segretario Particolare di Sua Santita (“Special Secretary of the Supreme Pontiff”).
The signature is exceptional, in deep blue ink, and stands out beautifully against the white robes. John Paul II signed few signatures and photographs are particularly uncommon. Here he signs his full Latin name "Ioannes Paulus II".
This piece is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from papal memorabilia expert Father Richard Kunst.
