Pitcairn Islands 1964–65 2d error “Blue Omitted”, SG36a.
A lower right corner block of nine with plate numbers “1A” ×4 (the fifth absent), unmounted mint with full original gum.
This is the unique and highly important positional multiple from the famous Pierron discovery sheet (Spink, 8 December 2009, lot 1634) with sheet number “1204”. That sheet included 53 examples of the error, only discovered in 2008 among a batch of 49 sequentially numbered sheets originally purchased at the time of issue.
A major exhibition piece and the key multiple of this striking modern rarity.
SG catalogue value: £7,200+.
