Perkins Bacon printing, imperforate with three large margins and close but just clear at upper left, with crisp part strike of the Perkins Bacon 'CANCELLED' handstamp, as presented to members of Rowland Hill's family in 1861. A beautiful stamp of the highest importance and rarity, being pos.5 from the original block of six, and one of only four remaining in private hands, the others (pos. 3 and 4) preserved respectively in the New Zealand Post Office collection and the Royal Philatelic Collection. Ex Dale-Lichtenstein and Jaffe; and sold by Spink in their June 2006 Washington sale (lot 185) for $43,600.
